1.
The kids they’ve got that fever Got that fever For the flavor of life I want to reach out and grab it I’m gonna take it inside me I’m gonna set it alight And then it comes You wake up in the morning Overwhelmed by all the damage you’ve done All the bridges you’ve burned And all the cords that you’ve cut Now you’re standing alone. You see I’ve got the fever Got that fever For the flavor, alright And I’m burning so hot, now I’m A human torch, man And I’m burning...alone
2.
You can seek forgiveness Or some kind of retribution From the face of a God you’ll never know Way back in the distant I see the tortured root of an angry boy who Thought the day would never come The tape only rewinds so far I can’t erase the things we’ve done The memory just marches on I can’t believe what you’ve become Let’s forget about forgiveness Over the horizon I see the ghosts of your past And they’re marching back To wipe away the progress Well I’ve seen the signs Now we’ll all shed our tears And each draw our lines And admit it’s finally time The Blood is dripping from your palms I can’t erase the things we’ve done The memorial just marches on I can’t believe what you’ve become Let’s forget about forgiveness
3.
These years have passed by And I finally realized That what we have, this thing Well, it’s all just been a lie I’m tired of wasting so much time Living a life, that you’ve left behind Like Watching a car crash happening in half time Or the loose lash that’s stinging in the corner of my eye Like the twist of a very dull knife I’ll finally take the hint, and move on with life
4.
It wasn’t first Won’t be the last time Reaching for the false prize Both sides And each are preaching for their greatness And they’re Both sides I’m tired of being alone And I’m tired of reaching for answers That lie just beyond Beyond the door Tie me down Tie me down and hold me for ransom The race is on….let’s go! Beyond the door. It wasn’t time wasted Don’t say it’s time wasted Both sides feel the same Both sides And they’re preaching for their greatness And they’re both sides
5.
I can’t say i haven’t felt this bad before There seems to be no purposeful conclusion, and I’m sitting here just wasting, I’m just clocking time We all have secrets That we hope no one knows Just broken down hiding deep inside a lie The streets are alive, with mumblings of the truth (don’t wait too long) But no one dares speak too loudly It’s so dangerous, we’re all so quick to persecute (you’re wasting time) Get out your pitchforks Go grab your torches too comfort’s in the numbers But that doesn’t make it right You can Try to fight it, but you’re living in the lie With all it’s molding and shaping You’ll resist the story it’s making, but you’re never getting by You try to run back You’re gonna push it down Let it consume you As the story rolls by
6.
So...I see this again I sense the look of disapproval On your face And all the things you said They’ll haunt my brain A constant memory And I can’t take the strain I’m trying But can’t seem to gain any traction I can barely breathe And all those things you’ve said To me Are right. Let’s just go to sleep And call it A night. I’m down and out And I need a friend Someone to call my own But all the words that were said Are like jagged knives That you’ve stabbed in me And I can’t make amends
7.
Brush that hair back from your face Show me the hurt he’s laid on you There’s no need to feel that shame There’s no need to be afraid It’s not your fault It didn’t go right We’re going to stop this train tonight From the day I first met you Nobody could compare to you But every time I saw him lay his hands upon you Man, I made a mental bruise Tonight we’re gonna make it right Tonight we’re gonna even the score Tonight, we’re gonna set it alight Tonight, He’s gonna pay for what he’s done With every breath you’re breathing out I’m slowly drawing in I swear no one will ever hurt you Again And when I tell you I’ll never leave you You know it’s true RUN ON HOME RUN ON HOME
8.
I had a fire inside It once burned bright But now is just a distant glow The pace of life Has worn me down And left me untied I don’t want to be seen Don’t want to be I just want to Melt into the floor I’m losing touch...it’s all too much All aboard for the breakdown, baby All aboard for the breakdown, baby The things you used to rebel against Are now the things you’re forced to ingest You’re just a TOOTH on a COG in the MACHINE that grinds away at your self respect With Each passing day it bears down You’re left as an EXHAUSTED steaming pile of regret A loss leader in the game of life You’re drowning. And you’ll die alone Consistently. Persistent. Constantly behind in the RACE of the RATS I’m a victim of the others’ ambitions And am wearing far too many hats I can’t hold on I’m too far gone
9.
On time, I trace your every move That’s right, I know you better than you I want you to come with me I want to feel you in my arms Don’t you try to hide away I tell you I mean you no harm Surprise! Did you expect to see me here? That’s right I know just where you live I’ve memorized each line in your face As I’ve watched you while you sleep That’s right I know much more than you think I want you to comfort me I want to melt you in my arms Don’t you turn your back on me I’m going to leech into your soul
10.
I’m reaching out Pushing But I’ll never deliver I feel it deep inside And I wanted you to sing my song The sentiment’s alive on the streets in the bowels of the nation You can try to hide I never knew you’s be this bold When the broadside of intent Sways the public opinion We’ll bury it deep inside And let it die alone
